The story of Akab is a new story of the sufferance, oppression and pain that civilians in the besieged neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city have been going through. He was born in al Jawra neighborhood and died at the age of 3 months after he had lived in horrid conditions under the hardship of siege.
He passed away due to malnutrition and the lack of medicine because of the siege imposed by ISIS on Assad regime’s held neighborhoods in the city of Deir Ezzor. Moreover, the siege is only affecting the local civilians as the Regime forces receive continuous supplies from the military airport near the city,in other word, the local civilians are the ones paying the price for this siege.
Akab began suffering since his birth ,as his mother,Manar Kassar al Daghim, suffered from a shortage of milk , due to the lack of it in the markets;the thing that forced the child to live his early days on anise and starch mixed with water which was insufficient nutrition that led him to suffer from anemia.
Some of his relatives told Deir Ezzor 24 that they were attempting to rescue Akab by any means as they headed towards all the available hospitals in the biesieged neighborhoods where they met nurses incapabale of dealing with such type of illness.
Moreover another relative of Akba told us that ”the nurses are careless of any patient who visits their hospitals for treatement, many cases like Akab were overlooked.Yes , Akab Sukr died to be a story among the other stories of the people of Deir Ezzor’ sufferings who are caught between Assad,Russian airstrikes and ISIS.
