DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
Tobacco prices have doubled in Deir Ezzor governorate in recent weeks, according to the correspondent of DeirEzzor24 Network.
He said that the price of the cheapest pack of Fm tobacco reached 4,000 Syrian pounds, and a pack of Al-Hamra for 5,000 pounds, while some other types reached 10,000 pounds.
He added that the reasons for this increase are due to the monopoly of tobacco by the Al-Marsoumi Group and the Fourth Division in the Al-Bukamal region, smuggling operations towards the western governorates, and the pretext of the high exchange rate of the dollar against the Syrian pound.
The tobacco trade and smuggling is controlled by people affiliated with the militias deployed in Deir Ezzor, in addition to the Fourth Division, the National Defense Militia, and the Popular Mobilization Militia.
