Units of the Internal Security Directorate in  Al-Mayadeen area in the countryside of Deir Ezzor Governorate, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service, carried out a qualitative security operation that resulted in the arrest of the person called «J.S.» seizing a quantity of missiles and various weapons that were intended for smuggling outside the country.

According to a security source, the operation was based on accurate intelligence information that enabled the relevant units to locate the suspect, in order to carry out a well-planned raid that resulted in thwarting a plot to smuggle anti-tank missiles and anti-aircraft machine guns.

The source added that the security forces confiscated the seized items and transferred the detainee to the Counter-Terrorism Department to complete investigations and take the necessary legal measures against him in accordance with approved procedures.
