Civilians residing in the city of Al-Mayadin are now caught between the deplorable conditions, which include a sky-high increase in food prices, and the continuous threats by the coalition forces, who have dropped leaflets demanding the civilians to leave the city, as the latter will be carpet-bombed soon, creating a state of shock and despair among the population of the area.
Al-Mayadin is experiencing a massive wave of civilian displacements after the airdrop of the warning leaflets on civilian homes in the city yesterday.
Several bridges in the region have been knocked out of commission, including Al-Mayadin Bridge and strategic Al-Ashara Bridge, worsening the civilian situation to an extreme level. The destruction of the bridges in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor and the cutting off of the roads by the coalition have generated a sharp increase in prices of food items and other necessary goods in both, the city of Al-Bukamal and Al-Mayadin.
Most of the activists and monitors of the region have linked the systematic targeting of the bridges in Deir Ezzor with the upcoming battles of Raqqa and Al-Mosul.
