An exclusive source told DeirEzzor24 network that theft and corruption have recently ravaged the ranks of the Fifth Corps of the Russian First Division.
According to the source, Syrian officers in the Fifth Corps have resorted to stealing food, fuel and light weapons provisions (pistol and rifle bullets) and selling them to merchants and smugglers, to compensate for the financial shortage of their salaries.
It is noteworthy that the Russian command at the Hmeimim base in Latakia had cut the salaries of its Fifth Corps volunteers of Syrian officers and individuals in half during the renewal of their contracts two months ago, as the salaries of officers decreased from 200 per month to 100 USD.
