Over the past 24 hours, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have set up new checkpoints on the Deir Ezzor–Raqqa road, in both the Jazira and Shamiyah sections, as part of tightened security measures.
The deployment of checkpoints has been concentrated in the Jazira area, starting from the town of al-Karamah east of Raqqa to the town of Jazrat al-Bouhamid west of Deir Ezzor, where four new checkpoints have been recorded.
Five additional checkpoints were also positioned on the Shamiyah road, in the area extending from the town of Rutlah east of Raqqa to the town of al-Sabkha east of Raqqa, along the international highway (Raqqa–Deir Ezzor).
The checkpoints include members of the Military Police and the General Security apparatus affiliated with the SDF, in addition to customs police personnel.
According to local sources, these checkpoints are conducting thorough vehicle searches and checking personal identification cards, with a particular focus on young men to verify their birth years, in preparation for sending them to compulsory military service camps.
During the past 24 hours, arrests have been recorded involving a number of young men traveling from Raqqa to Deir Ezzor, where they were detained with the aim of sending them to compulsory conscription camps.
