Yahya Dakhil from Deir Ezzor, mainly the Sheikh Yassin neighborhood, joined the peaceful protests and became a media staff member of the Saiqah battalion in Deir Ezzor in 2012. In late 2013, he was seen in the city of Al-Mayadin from which he headed to the Daesh-controlled Shaddadi, where he pledged his allegiance to the organization in the same year. Afterwards, he returned and formed sleeper cells in Deir Ezzor.
He declared his allegiance officially after the capturing of Deir Ezzor in 2014 by Daesh. After that, he was appointed as a representative of the group’s media office.
