Several rest stops have recently opened along the Deir Ezzor – Damascus road, providing travelers with essential services during their journeys, such as fuel, places to rest, and food and drinks, according to DeirEzzor24 Network.
Our correspondent reported that among these new stops, two young men from Raqqa and Deir Ezzor opened a rest stop named “Al-Furat” (The Euphrates) to serve the local population.
Ahmad Al-Hassan, one of the workers at the stop, confirmed that they offer their services without price hikes. Food and drinks are sold at the same prices as in the cities, which has encouraged more locals to visit.
He added that the rest stop was named “Al-Furat” because it was established by sons of the Euphrates residents of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa—and it features interior elements that reflect the identity of these cities.
He also noted that preparations are underway to open several other branches along the road to serve isolated areas that currently lack rest facilities.
Meanwhile, traveler Abdullah Al-Mousa said he visits Al-Furat rest stop because it offers satellite internet service, allowing him to stay in touch with family and relatives, especially given the weak Syrian telecom network along the route.
Travelers and rest stop owners have called on the relevant authorities to maintain the road, which is considered a vital artery for the eastern region, as it connects it to the central region and the capital, Damascus.
Al-Furat rest stop reflects a blend of the identities of Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa, symbolizing the Euphratean heritage represented by these cities.
