Deir Ezzor has recently witnessed a significant and noticeable proliferation of motorcycles ridden by young men under the age of 19 in markets crowded with pedestrians. According to a reporter of DeirEzzor24 Network, this has led to them becoming an increasing source of nuisance.
Our reporter said that shop owners, primarily those on Cinema Fouad Street, suffer most from this phenomenon. Pedestrians also suffer from the reckless driving of these motorcycles without regard for their safety.
Abdullah Abbadi, owner of one of the shops, said, “The street is crowded in the evenings with residents, pedestrians, and some cars, in addition to commercial vehicles and cafes. The motorcycle riders ride at high speeds between pedestrians and cars to pass, causing panic, especially among women and children.”
Cinema Fouad Street is currently one of the most active markets in Deir Ezzor, characterized by a high density of pedestrians and cars due to the variety of shops, small stalls, restaurants, and cafes.
