Patrols of the National Defense Militia (NDF) arrested eight young men at their checkpoints in Al-Mayadeen city yesterday, Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent said.
According to the correspondent, the NDF arrested the eight young men because they were in the age of compulsory service and have no service deferral papers.
The correspondent noted that the NDF has set up checkpoints in several places of Al-Mayadeen city (near Al-Taybah roundabout, next to Al-Hasan School and near the municipality roundabout).
It is the first time that unofficial militia like the NDF to have arrested young men for the purpose of conscription, as it was the task of Assad regime’s security branches.
