On Wednesday, August 19, a large military convoy of the 5th Corps affiliated with Assad’s forces entered Deir Ezzor from Raqqa countryside and Homs badiyah, according to Deir Ezzor 24 network correspondent.
The convoy, which included military vehicles, entered al-Tala’i camp near the western entrance of Deir Ezzor city. Part of the convoy headed to the Panorama area near the southern entrance of Deir Ezzor city, the correspondent said.
A source told Deir Ezzor 24 network that at the behest of the Russian forces, Assad’s forces intend to conduct large-scale campaign in search of Daesh members in Deir Ezzor badiyah.
The convoy was sent to Deir Ezzor city after a senior Russian general was killed, and his escorts injured by explosive devices planted by Daesh in Al-Mayadeen city east of Deir Ezzor.
