The first voluntary return convoys set off from the informal camps in Deir Ezzor

Today, Monday, the first voluntary return convoy trips were launched from informal camps in the Al-Jazeera areas of Deir Ezzor, to transport families to their original areas in the governorates of Deir Ezzor, Al-Hasakah, Aleppo and Homs.

The convoy will continue for three days, in cooperation between the Directorate of Social Affairs, Labor and International Cooperation, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and partner organizations, with a total of 224 families, while the first trip included 30 families from Al-Shehabat camps and the Western Industrial City.

This step comes within the Syrian government’s plan aimed at ending the camps file and reaching “zero camps” by the end of 2026, by supporting the voluntary return of families to their areas of origin and ensuring the necessary conditions for their stability.
