On Thursday, December 31, 2020, Iranian militias held a ceremony in the city of al-Bukamal, eastern Deir Ezzor to commemorate the first anniversary assassinating Qasem Suleimnai the commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards’ (IRGC) al-Quds Corps.
The ceremony took place in the al-Fayhaa square in central al-Bukamal, amidst austere security measures. Assad regime’ and Iranian figures such as al-Haj Askar and al-Haj Adel who are IRGC first rank commanders in Syria, Abu Isa the commander of the Iranian 47th Regiment militia, officials of the al-Baath Party, and commanders of the National Defense militias attended the ceremony.
The ceremony included speeches praising the Resistance Alliance, slogans threatening to take revenge against the United States, and delivering the oath of revenge for Suleimani’ killing. The singer Muhammad Juneid and other singers held a singing party after the speeches ceremony.
This ceremony is a series of activities that the IRGC called to organize to commemorate the first anniversary of Soleimani’s killing by an American airstrike in early 2020.
