Iranian militias arrested yesterday several NDF militiamen in Al-Bukamal city, in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside. The reasons behind the arrest remain unclear. The incident coincided with the deployment of Russian forces to villages nearby Al-Bukamal city.
The recent deployment of Russian forces to areas on the periphery of Al Bukamal is considered to be a move by Moscow to prevent any kind of Iranian dominance in the area.
It should be pointed out that Al Bukamal city is controlled by pro-Iran militias because of its significant importance that lies in linking Iranian forces in Iraq with those present in Syria.
The Iranian militias dominate over the situation in Al-Bukamal city and have the last word in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
