On Sunday, the American Army announced the International Coalition forces downed a drone in Eastern Syria. The army added that an International Coalition warplane downed the drone on Saturday for posing a threat.
Col. Wyne Marotto who is the spokesman for the International Coalition said :”The coalition’s warplanes managed to clash with and down the drone near the green village base.” Marotto did not specify the identity of the drone; however, the Iranian militias in the area are suspected to be involved in the incident, especially as they launch attacks against the coalition from time to time.
This incident is the third in two days, as local news resources reported an International Coalition’ warplane downed a drone near al-Omar oil field in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
The American Department of Defense (Pentagon) expressed deep worries about attacking Americans in Syria and Iraq following attacks on American diplomats and forces, injuring two American soldiers.
In June 2021, Pentagon announced the American army will launch airstrikes against armed groups backed by Iran in Syria and Iraq, upon President Joe Biden’s orders.
Since an American airstrike killed Qasem Suleimani who is a commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps in early 2020, International’s Coalition bases have come under missile attacks.
