The General Corporation for Drinking Water in Deir Ezzor has completed the installation of a solar energy system at the Baghouz water station in Albukamal countryside, with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund “UNICEF”, as part of efforts to improve the status of water services in the area.
The system consists of 256 solar panels dedicated to the net pumping group, 56 panels for the raw pumping group, in addition to 18 panels to feed the station’s facilities, which contributes to enhancing operational capacity and raising pumping efficiency.
This step aims to increase the stability of water supply and improve pressure within the network, which will positively reflect on water access to residents in the Baghouz area and surrounding areas, especially in light of the challenges associated with securing traditional energy sources.
The project is part of a series of interventions aimed at supporting the water sector’s infrastructure and relying on renewable energy sources to ensure the sustainability of basic services and improve the living conditions of the population.
