DeirEzzor24 exclusive report

The Assad regime neglected to restore the necessary infrastructure after taking control of the city of Deir ez-Zor following the withdrawal of ISIS years ago, to obstruct the return of residents to their neighborhoods in light of the lack of the most basic services.

In what it called reconstruction, the Assad regime focused specifically on the “al-Maqbi” market in its search for an external financier, due to the ease of persuading foreign parties to finance its project as it is an archaeological site.

The international organization UNDP allocated a sum of money some time ago to rehabilitate the market, which was handed over to Assad regime officials in the city.

As usual, the Assad regime ignored the rehabilitation of the market, hoping to present it to other international organizations in order to steal more money.

It is noteworthy that the destruction in the market is very large, as a result of the bombing it was subjected to by Assad’s forces, Russia, and Iranian militias.
