The Director General of the General Organization for Grains, Engineer Hassan Othman, announced the entry of Iraqi wheat trucks into Syria via al-Qaim border crossing on Friday, as part of a generous initiative by the Iraqi people to support the Syrian people.
In a statement to SANA, Othman explained that the first batch, consisting of 39 trucks loaded with wheat, arrived in Deir Ezzor and was received on site, in preparation for distribution to other governorates.
Othman expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to the Republic of Iraq for its initiative, which includes transporting 220,000 tons of wheat as a gift to the Syrian people. He stressed that this step reflects the deep fraternal and historical relations between the two brotherly countries.
The Director General of the General Organization for Grains indicated that the distribution of the quantities is being carried out based on a careful study of the needs of each governorate, conducted by specialized teams in coordination with the relevant authorities. This is to ensure that the wheat reaches the areas most in need and achieve fair distribution, thus enhancing food security throughout the country.
Othman concluded his statement by emphasizing that this gift is not merely a shipment of wheat, but rather represents the fruit of rebuilding and strengthening fraternal relations with the brotherly Iraqi people. He expressed hope that this initiative would be the beginning of further joint cooperation in various fields.
