Albukamal border crossing with the Republic of Iraq has recorded increasing transit traffic since the beginning of this year, coinciding with the continued flow of travelers and receiving Syrian citizens returning voluntarily to the homeland, amid continuous organizational procedures and services provided by the crossing’s staff to ensure the speed of completing transactions and the smooth flow of entry and departure traffic.
The total number of passengers who crossed the crossing in both directions during the past period reached about 87 thousand passengers, while the crossing received about two thousand Syrian citizens who returned voluntarily to the Syrian Arab Republic, in an indication of the continued growth of transit traffic between Syria and Iraq.
Albukamal Port Administration continues to implement its plans to regulate passenger traffic and provide the necessary facilities to returnees, in addition to enhancing readiness and raising the level of performance to ensure acceleration of procedures and achieve greater fluidity in transit traffic.
