The city of Deir Ezzor has recently experienced a number of fires in conjunction with low temperatures due to the extension of the polar low, the lack of heating elements, power outages that last for tens of hours, and the people’s resort to wood heaters and some unsafe methods.
A fire broke out in a house in Al-Dahiya neighborhood, causing two cases of suffocation in addition to significant material damage. On Wednesday, a fire broke out in a house in Al-Joura neighborhood near Al-Shaher bakery and another in Al-Omal neighborhood. The house of the former director of education, Nashat Al-Ali near the Hawija roundabout, was also burned, and a firefighter was injured as a result.
And last week, two fires occured, one in the Joura neighborhood and the other in the teachers’ residences, as a result of the ignition of diesel.
