An expanded meeting was held yesterday with the participation of the Governor of Deir Ezzor, a number of local officials, and representatives of the organization, to discuss the status of implemented projects and future work prospects in the governorate.
The meeting included a detailed presentation of the projects implemented by UNICEF during 2025, which covered vital sectors, most notably support for the education and health sectors, improvement of water and sanitation services, as well as child protection programs and capacity-building for local staff.
Participants confirmed that these projects have made a tangible contribution to improving living conditions for children and the most vulnerable families, and have helped enhance social stability in several areas of the governorate.
During the meeting, UNICEF also presented its future plans for 2026, which focus on strengthening sustainable development and expanding humanitarian programs to reach broader segments of the population, with an emphasis on long-term solutions that support self-reliance and improve the quality of basic services. The proposed plans stressed the importance of partnership with local entities to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of the projects.
For his part, the Governor of Deir Ezzor emphasized the importance of the role played by UNICEF in supporting the governorate, praising the efforts made over recent years and affirming the readiness of local authorities to provide the necessary facilitation to ensure the success of future plans. He also called for enhanced joint coordination to achieve the best results in terms of humanitarian and service-related development.
This meeting comes within the context of ongoing efforts to evaluate performance and improve the quality of humanitarian and development interventions, in line with the needs of Deir Ezzor Governorate and the aspirations of its residents for a more stable and developed future.
