Al-Hasakah, Qamishli, Raqqa, and Deir Ezzor schools announced an open strike in solidarity with Deir Ezzor teachers, until their demands are met, which is to raise their salaries, in line with the rise in the dollar exchange rate, implement all the provisions of the workers’ law, and allow education sector employees to work overtime in a way that does not conflict with their time in schools.
Teachers also demand activating the role of the teachers’ union, coordinating with the health sector, disbursing health allowances to teachers, preparing a union surreal supported by the Teachers Union, establishing development projects to support teachers, urging organizations to support the education sector, limiting the teacher’s tasks to teaching, and finding specialists in other tasks such as mentors. Among the things that the teachers demanded of increasing the amount of stationery allocated to educational centers, providing schools with modern educational means, and allocating petty cash to schools, represented in the allowance of drinks, filling toilet water and drinking water.
Other demands include to decide the appointment block about a month before the start of the school year, to expedite the payment of maternity allowance for teachers, to provide means or transportation allowances for teachers, to provide school furniture such as tables and chairs, lockers, and to secure tools to support sports and cultural activities, to raise the level of students culturally and physically, and to equalize the salaries of teachers in all regions, and the introduction of Islamic education into the curricula.
There was no reaction or response from the Self-Rule Administration, while the teachers insist on continuing their strike, in light of the aggravation of their problems, and the administration’s ignoring of them, which affects the educational process.
