Mr. *Ghassan Al-Sayyid Ahmad*, the Governor of Deir Ezzor, chaired a meeting that included the administration of the Al-Bukamal border crossing, the directors of the Real Estate Services and State Properties departments, in addition to a number of specialized technicians.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the framework for the new expansion of the Al-Bukamal crossing, as part of the plan approved by the General Authority for Crossings and Customs to establish a new crossing south of the current one, built to international standards.
It was decided in the meeting to form an emergency committee, appointed by the governorate, to address the property-related issues hindering the start of the expansion work, in a way that ensures faster procedures and the commencement of the project as soon as possible.
The attendees also discussed the condition of the main roads leading to the crossing and ways to carry out urgent maintenance, pending the completion of the highway that will connect Deir Ezzor city with Al-Bukamal. This aims to facilitate movement, and strengthen transport and trade activity through the border crossing.
