A number of dead bodies belonging to ISIS members who were killed in clashes against Assad forces that recently broke out on the front of al-Jafra near the military airport arrived to the group’s held areas in Deir Ezzor’s western countryside today.
“10 ISIS members from the western countryside of Deir Ezzor were among those killed in recent fierce battles in the vicinity of Deir Ezzor military airport”, a D24 correspondent said today.
He added, “Three of them are mainly from the village of Kharita, and the final result of a clinical examination of their dead bodies revealed symptoms and signs of exposure to a poison gas attack.”
Assad-forces deployed what is believed to be mustard gas to repel an ISIS offensive on regime positions in Deir Ezzor yesterday after the group was able to overrun several key positions inside al-Jafra nearby the airport. The gas attack resulted in the immediate death of several ISIS members by suffocation along with some regime militants who were also affected and poisoned to death.
The use of poisonous gas by the Assad-regime is actually not the first of its kind as it had previously employed gas as an effective weaponry to thwart two ISIS offensives on Deir Ezzor military airport a month ago.
