Daesh launched a violent attack yesterday, targeting positions belonging to Assad’s forces and aligned militias in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor during a sandstorm that swept across the region.
The organization used all kinds of weapons in the attack, during which it managed to kill a commander of pro-Assad Al-Baqir Brigade, Asaad Abu Kassar. He was among the most prominent commander in the brigade who took part in the capture of Deir Ezzor city in 2017.
The militia was formed in Aleppo in 2015 and it has been fighting in different areas, mainly Deir Ezzor. Loyalists of Nawaf Al-Bashir, a tribal leader, joined the ranks of this militias as well.
