Daesh is likely to launch a large-scale offensive against Assad’s forces in Deir Ezzor in the coming hours.
A private source stated to D24 that the organization had brought dozens of their manpower from areas outside the city, including a large number of Arab and other foreign Daesh affiliates. The organization also brought in heavy weapons.
The source said that Daesh are preparing for a decisive battle that would end the presence of the Assad regime in the region.
Daesh is still in control of strategic areas they captured recently from Assad’s forces in Deir Ezzor, most important are the Talai Camp, which consists of heavy weapons and ammunition, areas near the military airport and Brigade 137.
We should not forget also the fact that the organization has laid siege to the regime-held araes of Deir Ezzor for more than two years, which are home to more than 100 thousand civilians. Those areas are subjected to daily mortar shelling by Daesh, which have claimed the lives of several of them so far.
What is different in this latest Daesh’s offensive is that they are holding firmly to their gains against Assad’s forces which they made in the recent battle that started two weeks ago.
