Assad’s forces and allied militias, who were backed by a heavy Russian air cover, took control over all neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city, apart from the Rushdiyah and parts of the Huwayqah, following long clashes against Daesh.
Around 700 trapped civilians in the Huwayqah and the Oradi, as well as Huwayjah Qati, has made a humanitarian appeal to open safe humanitarian corridors to move to SDF-held Al-Husseiniyah town in western Deir Ezzor. In the same context, many activists had appealed to the international community and insisted upon the necessity to move and open safe corridors for those trapped civilians, however, their appeals have gone to no avail.
The capturing of the neighborhoods of Deir Ezzor city came after capturing the Kanamat and AlRussafah neighborhoods in addition to the old airport.
The gains in the city coincide with more gains in the south of the province, where the regime captured the main stronghold of Daesh in the province, Al-Mayadeen.
