Assad regime’s forces and security branches deployed temporary checkpoints and conducted joint patrols in Deir Ezzor, arresting young men for the purpose of forced conscription.
Assad’s forces usually carry out such ambushes to arrest young men evading compulsory service, and push them into combat zones, while young men try hard to hide and some times take long ways around checkpoints to avoid arrest.
More than half of Syria’s young men have emigrated outside Syria mainly to escape compulsory and reserve service, and secondly to improve their living conditions.
