DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
In the few days, the Assad regime released a number of detainees from its prisons, in the context of what it called a “general amnesty”, for terrorism crimes and criminal charges. Dozens of Deir Ezzor residents were released within the alleged amnesty.
The squares of Damascus were filled with people, who, as soon as they heard of the release of the detainees, they immediately went to the squares of Damascus, searching among the released for their families and children. However, most of them returned disappointed, after spending long hours.
Most of the newly released detainees did not exceed two years in prisons, and their charges are either criminal or clean. They are in good shape, unlike the prisoners of conscience, whose number did not exceed ten, and they were in a dire state, as the Assad regime took them as a piety to confront the international community.
Observers believe that the step-by-step initiative began when the Assad regime took the first step, which is moving the detainees’ file, to pressure in return for a step on the part of the opposition, “according to their analyses.”
The release of detainees from Sednaya and Adra prison is still ongoing, as few numbers are released daily. According to the Assad regime’s media, the detainees will continue to be released until the 20th of this month, while it was noted that no lists of the names of the released were issued.
Today, Abd al-Wahhab Hassan al-Ali and Abd al-Salam Hamad al-Ali, from the town of al-Tabani in Deir Ezzor, and “Nadim Aklo al-Zayd” from the town of Khasham in Deir Ezzor province were released from prison.
