A surgeon at the Assad Hospital carried out yesterday a birth operation for a woman using a lighter as an alternative for lack of electricity in that hospital.
Local sources indicated to D24 that the surgeon carried out the operation with basic medical devices and without the help of any nurses. However, the operation succeeded and both, the woman and the new born baby survived.
Sources indicated that the deteriorating situation of that hospital is due to its corrupt administration.
It should be pointed out that besieged Deir Ezzor has been facing electricity and water cuts for more than two years due to the siege which is imposed by Daesh on some regime-held neighborhoods. There is also a severe shortage of medical staff.
