Assad regime’s criminal security arrested engineer Fahad al-Rayash, the director of Deir Ezzor fuel department Sadkop, and four other employees.
The arrest warrants were issued by an inspection committee sent from the capital Damascus due to accusation against al-Rayash and his four employees for selling a large amount of fuel held as reserve for the region, in addition to accusation of embezzlement.
Illicit gain and corruption are widespread in the facilities and institutions of the “Assad” militias. The closure of riverine crossings, through which oil was being smuggled from the SDF-controlled areas to Assad-controlled areas, has contributed to the increase of oil selling for the benefit of managers and officials, as a form of corruption spreading in the region.
