The health sector suffers from unprecedented neglect in Deir Ezzor, especially in al-Assad Hospital, the city’s most famous hospital.
The corridors and courtyards of the building are dirty and full of garbage. The hospital suffers from the lack of sterilants. The medical supplies are old and many of them are outdated.
A person who escorted a patient in Al-Assad Hospital told Deir Ezzor 24 about the situation there:
“My father was admitted into the intensive care unit at al-Assad Hospital, and there was the surprise. The department did not seem like an intensive care unit at all. Visitors were going in and out as they like. The hospital was in a chaotic state, dirt was everywhere. People had to buy most of the medicines needed for their patients due to the lack of medicine in the hospital.”
He added:
“The nurses working in the unit were mistreating patients. They were doing their jobs in a very bad inhuman way.
The people of Deir Ezzor suffer from poor health services, especially in this time of coronavirus outbreak. Hospitals have not received any support of the required medical supplies and sterilants. They suffer from the lack of medicines, and corruption that has not spared even medical supplies such as masks and gloves.
