Al-Akidat Tribe holds meeting in eastern Deir Ezzor

On Tuesday, August 11, 2020, the al-Akidat Tribe held a broad meeting in the town of Thiban in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside. The aim of the meeting is to discuss the consequences of assassinating Sheikh Muttashar al-Hafal and his companion days ago.

After sheikhs of the tribe delivered statements about the assassination and the tribe’s position towards it, they issued a general statement addressing the Internationlal Coalition.

The statement included major points such as controlling the security situation by preparing a plan to sustain stability and security. Investigating recent assassinations against tribal dignitaries and revealing the perpetrators and bringing them to justice.

The statement stressed the necessity of activating the Arab component such as effective people and security officials to run their own areas.

The statement emphasized the need for releasing prisoners from the Syrian Democratic forces prisons, and women and children detained in refugee camps.

The statement noted that it is important to sustain unity of Syria away from dividing, and activating a political solution that guarantees all rights.

The al-Akidat Tribe held the meeting on the background of incidents in area east of the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor after Sheikh Muttashar al-Hafal’s assassination.
