Today, the city of Hasakah witnessed a remarkable escalation by the SDF forces, represented by the intensive raising of their flags in a number of neighborhoods, including Al-Nashwa and Ghwairan, in addition to other areas within the city, following the stumbling of the last round of negotiations regarding the file of the Palace of Justice in the city of Qamishli.
According to observers, this move comes in the context of sending political messages after the failure to reach understandings between SDF and the Syrian government regarding the subordination and management of judicial institutions in the area.
Activists believe that the faltering negotiating track prompted SDF to escalate of a symbolic nature, by intensifying the presence of its flags at sensitive points, in an attempt to confirm its influence on the city’s administrative and service joints.
On the other hand, local circles are awaiting official reactions to this step, and whether it will contribute to increasing tension with government agencies, or will remain within the framework of political pressure related to the negotiations and outstanding files.
