After a long hiatus, the gas production and processing unit in the Conoco field was restarted

The Syrian Petroleum Company announced the operation of the early gas production and processing unit in the Tabiya «Conoco» field, east of Deir Ezzor, after completing its rehabilitation work through the efforts of the company’s cadres of engineers and technicians, and in cooperation with a number of local companies.

The rehabilitation work included restarting a gas production and processing plant, relying on equipment from the former Al-Tabiya plant, allowing the separation of water and gas condensates, drying the gas and preparing it for pumping towards the facilities of the central region in Homs Governorate to complete the treatment operations.

In parallel with the rehabilitation of the station’s equipment, the gas transmission line extending from the Tabiya factory towards the city of Palmyra was repaired, and the missing part of it, about 5 kilometers long and 18 inches in diameter, was completed, in addition to repairing the sectional valves, so that the line became ready to transport gas.

The rehabilitation work relied heavily on the capabilities and materials available to the company, whether from the Al-Tabiya facility or from other facilities affiliated with it, with the help of local companies, in a step that reflects the ability of national cadres to rehabilitate the company’s assets and return them to service.

The production unit is scheduled to start from two wells out of five in the field, pending the completion of repair work on the remaining wells, while after rehabilitating all wells, it is expected that the system will contribute to supplying the gas network with quantities ranging between one million and one and a half million cubic meters per day.

Operating the unit represents a first step towards returning the gas fields in the region to service, after a long hiatus due to the damage they sustained, while the company continues to work on completing the rehabilitation of an integrated system for gas production and processing during the next phase.
