The Oil and Gas Technical Institute was opened today, Tuesday, in Deir Ezzor Governorate, coinciding with the start of the 2026-2027 academic year, in a step aimed at enhancing specialized technical education and qualifying national cadres capable of meeting the needs of the energy sector.
The opening took place in the presence of the Head of the Examinations Department at the Ministry of Energy, Nasr Hamdou, the Deputy Governor, Badri Al-Masloukh, and the Director of Public Relations in the Governorate, Ayman Al-Hamad, at the institute’s headquarters located within the Al-Tayym oil field, allowing the practical capabilities provided by the site to be utilized to enhance the applied aspect in educational process.
The opening ceremony witnessed meetings and discussions that addressed the importance of the institute and its expected role in preparing specialized technical competencies, in addition to the challenges facing the next stage, and ways to enhance cooperation and integration between educational institutions and entities concerned with the energy sector, which contributes to developing training and qualification programs and raising the level of national competencies.
The institute’s importance lies in providing an educational environment that combines theoretical knowledge and practical training, giving students the opportunity to acquire the necessary professional skills and compensate for the lack of applied training opportunities they experienced in previous periods. This enhances their readiness to engage in the labor market and contribute to supporting the oil and gas sector.
The institute is expected to be an important tributary to the energy sector with qualified personnel, by linking technical education to the sector’s actual needs and expanding practical training opportunities to keep pace with the requirements of the next phase.
