A delegation from the European Commission for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO) visited the Ward Community Center of the Saint Ephrem the Syrian Patriarchal Authority for Development, implemented in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in the city of Albukamal, with the aim of reviewing the progress of work and mechanisms for providing humanitarian services to beneficiaries.
The delegation included Ms. Joya Bandita, Mr. Amin Qalbaqjian, Mr. Abdul Latif Toaima, Mr. Abdul Razzaq Jawish, and Ms. Shima Sabbagh. During the tour, they were briefed on the mechanisms for monitoring humanitarian cases and referring them to the services available within the center.
The delegation also held a dialogue session with a number of returnees from Lebanon and Al-Hawl camp, to listen to their most prominent needs and the challenges they face after returning, in light of the difficult living conditions witnessed in the area.
Participants expressed their concern about the lack of job opportunities and the difficulty of securing basic necessities of life, in addition to the weak infrastructure in education, health and water stations sectors, stressing that these challenges directly affect their stability and the safety of their families.
