The Albukamal Grain Center in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor was reopened after completing its rehabilitation work, with the aim of receiving wheat crops from farmers and facilitating marketing operations during the current agricultural season.
The center is a vital facility serving farmers in Albukamal and neighboring villages, reducing transportation burdens and reducing the costs farmers previously incurred when transporting their crops to remote receiving centers.
The rehabilitation work included maintaining warehouses, equipping receiving yards, and improving the center’s infrastructure, ensuring the accommodation of the expected quantities of wheat crop and providing the necessary services to farmers during the marketing period.
A number of farmers stressed that the re-operation of the center represents an important step to support the agricultural sector and encourage the expansion of the cultivation of strategic crops, especially wheat, which constitutes one of the most prominent pillars of food security.
Observers believe that the resumption of work at the center reflects positively on the economic movement in the area, and contributes to enhancing the stability of the marketing process for agricultural crops, amid demands to continue supporting farmers and securing production requirements in order to achieve an increase in production and improve the living conditions in the district.
