DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
During the past few days, customs patrols launched a confiscation campaign targeting several shops in the city of Al-Mayadeen, east of Deir Ezzor, under the pretext of their owners not paying customs taxes, according to a DeirEzzor24 network local reporter.
According to the reporter, patrol members blackmailed shop owners, asked them to pay bribes, and threatened them with imprisonment and fines under the pretext of possessing smuggled goods, noting that some people close to the leaders of the Iranian-backed militias work in selling smuggled goods openly without being held accountable.
Such campaigns are a gateway to recruitment for members and leaders of the security branches and customs, as they involve the confiscation of funds and confiscated materials.
