A joint patrol, led by customs officials, raided a smuggled tobacco warehouse in the Tuybah neighborhood of Al-Bukamal city in eastern Deir ez-Zor, according to a local reporter of DeirEzzor24.
Accoding to our reporter, the warehouse belongs to the leadership of the National Defense Militia in Al-Bukamal, which led to the intervention of National Defense militia members, resulting in a gunfire exchange between the two sides. The patrol eventually withdrew out of fear that the situation might escalate into a larger confrontation.
The National Defense militia is involved in various smuggling operations, including tobacco and drugs.
