Yesterday, the Tuwaiba neighborhood in the city of Albukamal in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor witnessed a great security alert and a search campaign for young people with the aim of arresting those wanted for military service, according to the correspondent of DeirEzzor24 network.
Our correspondent added that, against the background of the campaign, a large number of young men, some of them members of various militias such as the National Defense, fled towards the areas of SDF control on the second bank of the Euphrates River.
He stressed that young men required for compulsory service resort to smugglers to cross into SDF-controlled areas, and the smuggling cost per person reaches 500,000 Syrian pounds, and the smuggling process takes place from water crossings near the town of Salhia, west of Al-Bukamal.
The Tuwaiba neighborhood in Al-Bukamal is the most densely populated neighborhood in the city, due to the spread of Iranian militias affiliated with Assad’s forces in the rest of the neighborhoods.
