DeirEzzor24 exclusive report:
An engineering team from Damascus arrived today in Deir Ezzor province, and the team members met with officials from the Assad regime in the province building.
The team inspected the Al-Siyasiyya bridge that links the city of Deir Ezzor with its countryside, and is considered the most important crossing between Al-Jazirah and Al-Shamiya. Technical and engineering studies have also been conducted that will be presented to experts at Damascus University, to rehabilitate the bridge, due to the presence of serious cracks in its southern columns from the side of the city.
The team began contracting with the General Company for Roads and Bridges, to implement the first phase, at a value of 150 million pounds, provided that the implementation period does not exceed 3 months.
It is known that the Al-Siyasah Bridge was implemented by a Yugoslav company in 1967, with a length of 400 meters, a width of 17 meters, and a height of 9.5 meters. , until it was knocked out of commission in 2016 after it was targeted by the international coalition aircraft, which led to the complete collapse of the northern part of it.
The people of the province believe that local companies are not qualified to rehabilitate the bridge, stressing that it will be similar to the dirt bridge that connects the Al-Hawiqa neighborhood with the town of Al-Hussainiya, and that such works need foreign companies, expertise and high competencies.
