Iran continues its settlement policy in Deir Ezzor. It is exploiting the deteriorating economic situation in the areas controlled by Assad regime to buy civilian homes and properties.
This is not new for Iran especially in Deir Ezzor, Iran has been doing this at appropriate times. And now it is the most appropriate time for it as the people of Deir Ezzor are suffering from poverty due to the economic deficit in Assad regime’s government, and the historic collapse of the Syrian currency against the dollar.
Iran is buying lands and houses in Deir Ezzor through persons from the region to evade arousing suspicion of sellers that Iran is behind the deals.
In this context, Deir Ezzor 24 network detected one of Iran’s men in its areas of control in Deir Ezzor, called “Hammoud al-Askar”. He is from Hatlah town in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside. He buys real estates and houses for Iran, in the seven villages controlled by Assad forces and Iranian militias east of the Euphrates.
Recently, Al-Askar advertised: “I am ready to buy damaged and destroyed houses in the area between Al-Husseiniyah and Al-Tabiya in Deir Ezzor countryside.”
Deir Ezzor 24 investigated the activity of “al-Askar” and his resources to know if he is the real buyer or just a broker. The network found out that Iranian figures are using “al-Askar” as a front in their project. He has bought many houses until now, and continues to buy more properties through tempting people with Iranian money.
Purchasing houses in Deir Ezzor is one of the methods used by Iran to change the demographic structure of Deir Ezzor society. Assad regime and the countries monitoring the situation in Syria have been watching Iran doing this, without taking any action to prevent it.
