Last Wednesday, May 13, 2020, a young woman, Siham al-Nawaf al-Jarad, died at Al-Assad Hospital in Deir Ezzor after she was injured by a landmine in Al-Shoula area.
Sources confirmed to Deir Ezzor 24 network that the young woman died due to the great negligence of the medical staff at Al-Assad Hospital.
The sources confirmed that the young woman was in a serious condition and in need to be moved to the intensive care unit, and that some doctors had advised that she must be transferred to one of Damascus hospitals, but no doctor accepted to accompany her in the ambulance to Damascus.
The sources said that the injured woman needed to be connected to a respirator, but the nurses refused to put her on one, saying that “there is no specialist now in the hospital, and the oxygen cylinder is in a locked room.”
The young woman died on the same day as a result of not receiving the necessary treatment at Al-Assad Hospital.
It is indicated that the medical negligence and lack of care have killed many civilians in Deir Ezzor, as a result of high degree of corruption, nepotism and the domination of the security grip on the health sector in Deir Ezzor.
