Syrian opposition activists have reposted on social media the video of a Syrian civilian being barbarically tortured by Russian militias. Some of the activists believe that the torture occurred in Syria while others claim that it took place outside the country.
The activist Mohamed Hassan from Deir Ezzor has released details on the identity of the tortured. According to him, the civilian is named ‘Mohamed Tah Al Ismail’ (also known as Hamadi Al Butah) and is a local from the town of Kharitah, in the western countryside of Deir Ezzor.
Mohamed Tah had entered Syria from Lebanon on his way to Deir Ezzor to visit his wife and children, but he was arrested by Assad’s forces at the Syria-Lebanon border and transported to serve in a military airport in the province of Homs. Afterward, he attempted to defect and flee for his life. However, his attempt failed and was arrested again. Then, the Russian militias brutally tortured him.
His family had been looking for him for a year without any positive result. However, they could identify him in the video which was re-uploaded two days ago. They are still not sure what has happened to him so far, though there are unconfirmed reports that he was executed after the savage torture.
Abu Saleh, a relative of the tortured man, confirmed that Mohamed Tah is a civilian striving to secure basic needs for his family and has no affiliation with any group or organization.
D24 obtained a picture of Mohamed from his family in which he wears the same clothes that he was wearing the video.
