United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) office in Deir Ezzor organized a training workshop targeting departments concerned with children’s affairs and social services, under the slogan “Every child has the right to life and social care”, in the presence of the Director of Social Affairs and Labor, Muhannad Haneidi.

The workshop coordinator provided a briefing on children’s rights in emergency situations and protection obligations since Syria’s accession to the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1993, with a focus on the principles of non-discrimination, the best interest of the child, and his right to life and to be heard.

The workshop also addressed the importance of implementing the Convention’s protocols during armed conflicts, highlighting the responsibility of the family, the state, and society to care for children, develop their abilities, and guarantee their right to expression and entertainment within a safe environment.
