A child was killed and five others were injured by gunfire at a wedding in the town of Dhiban in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, according to a Deir Ezzor 24 correspondent.
Our correspondent said that the seven-year-old child, “Ibn Maher al-Ramthan al-Karnoos,” was killed. He was the only child in his family, and his mother, along with three other women and a man, were injured in an accidental shooting at a wedding in the town of Dhiban, east of Deir Ezzor.
He added that this incident comes one day after a similar incident occurred in the town of Marat, northeast of Deir Ezzor, last night, when a young man, “Muhammad Ahmad Raki’ al-Assaf,” was killed by stray gunfire at a wedding in the town.
The phenomenon of random gunfire during events in Deir ez-Zor is one of the most irritating phenomena among the people of the area. It poses a threat to the lives of local residents, and has left hundreds dead and wounded over the past few years. Residents’ calls to put an end to this phenomenon have so far received no response from officials.
