Last Monday, Iraqi and Iranian Shiite groups arrived in Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside, urging people to join the Shiite sect.
According to special sources for D24 network, the delegation, which arrived in Al-Mayadeen, included Iranian Shiite figures, accompanied by an interpreter, met elders from Al-Mayadeen city.
According to the sources, the delegation explicitly called on the people to join the Shiite faith, and said that Iran would provide financial and food assistance to every family joining Shiism.
The sources noted that the delegation tried to exploit the situation of poverty and lack of the essentials of life, to enter the society of Al-Mayadeen city.
The delegation called on the people to encourage their children to return to Al-Mayadeen, and that the militias supported by Iran would settle their situation, and they would not be prosecuted.
The delegation visited symbolic places in Al-Mayadeen city, including the area of Ein Ali, near Al-Mayadeen city in the eastern Deir Ezzor countryside.
It is noteworthy that since the Assad’s control over Al-Mayadeen, Iran has been trying to spread Shiite faith and urge people outside the province to return.
