The Water Resources Directorate in Deir Ezzor continues to carry out maintenance work within the Fifth Sector project, with the aim of raising the efficiency of agricultural irrigation and drainage networks.
Maintenance workshops have begun work on isolating drains to ensure water flow and limit the rise in water levels in agricultural lands, which will contribute to reducing soil salinity and maintaining soil fertility.
The Fifth Sector project is a vital project in the governorate, irrigating approximately 3,565 hectares planted with strategic crops including wheat, cotton, and vegetables, reinforcing the importance of regular maintenance to ensure the sustainability of the agricultural process and support local production.
The Directorate confirmed its continued efforts to follow up on maintenance and rehabilitation work in various irrigation projects, to make the best use of water resources and serve the agricultural sector in Deir Ezzor.
