DeirEzzor24 exclusive report :
The smuggling of livestock has remarkably increased in SDF-held areas recently, mainly between the towns of Al-Husseiniya and Al-Jayaa. The price of smuggling 2500 head of sheep is estimated at 2500 SYP, 1500 SYP of which goes to SDF fighters and 1000 SYP to the Assad forces.
The smuggling operations are supervised by Fadi Al-Afish , who enjoys protection from the military security in Deir Ezzor. Locals resort to smuggling because it is cheaper than using the river crossings which are monopolized by the Fourth Division. The division gets 4500 SYP for every head of sheep , apart from the bribes which are paid to the operatives of other checkpoints.
The price of livestock in SDF-held areas is cheaper by 30 % than Assad-held areas, which makes merchants and sellers smuggle their livestock to benefit from the different prices in both areas.
